How to Build a Screen Door

Most people buy their screen doors from the store, and all they need to do is install it.  For others, they prefer to build it themselves.  Building a screen can be fun and exciting and a great weekend project.

To get started, you'll need some basic equipment such as paint, a hardware frame for the screen door, a mesh, nails, gloves, and glue.  As for the tools, you'll need to get a hammer, spade, chisels, a circular saw, a knife, couple small clamps, a tape measure, and staples.

As for the lumber, you can buy those pre-cut or cut them yourself.  Lumber comes in different quality as well.  Since this is a screen door that people will see before entering your home, you may want to get the highest quality lumber at the store.  They can be expensive but it's worth it.

Before you begin, you'll need to arrange the materials first so it will be easier to build the screen door.  Put all the wood in one place and all the other materials in another place.  This way when you're ready to start building, you'll know where each piece is.

Cutting and assembling the screen door will be different since everyone has their own style of doing things.  If you never built a screen door before, you may want watch DVD on building screen door or reading a book on it first.  This way, you'll get a general idea of how to build a screen door.

Screen door are easy to build and fun to do too.  Once you're complete with the project and the door is in place, you'll have a much greater appreciation for it since you built it yourself.
